Within days of our being flooded with Hurricane Harvey in late August, 2017, we were contacted by the Petco Foundation asking if they could help with a grant to get us back up on our feet.  Within just a couple weeks we received a check in the mail for $10,000 to be used in our relief and recovery efforts.  This helped to replenish our hay and feed and supplements for the horses and other animals, taking away much of our stress as to how we would fund this.

Since then, we have done some research on this foundation, and the Petco Company and are floored with the incredible work they do and how much they give back.  “At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life.  Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $200 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 5.5 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.”, according to their website.

Funny, many of us at Henry’s Home have shopped at Petco for our pet supplies for years.  We have noticed the work they do with trying to get animals adopted and spay/neutered.  But until this grant was made to help us at a real time of need, we had no idea just how generous and important the work they do in giving back is.  You betcha we will only shop at Petco from now on!
