Want to become a part of the Henry’s Herd Family?

Everyone who wants to become involved on a regular basis starts by taking our free Training and Safety Orientation Class.  Some come with years of horse experience, and some come who have spent their life afraid of horses and are now ready to get over that fear.  All come with an open heart to continually learn.  To join our family you must be over the age of 18 and are required to take our Training and Safety Orientation Class, and our 3 Horsemanship Classes with Gerrie Barnes of Progressive Horsemanship which cost $100 [for all three two-hour classes], just to get you on the same page with us. We do background checks on all our family because we work with kids.  After you go through our horsemanship classes, you will have the opportunity to start riding reguarly with us. We all pitch in $150/month if you want to ride, or $75/month if not to be a part of this family, as well as whatever time we can feeding, grooming, riding [or not, your choice] and caring for these horses and our farm.  If you have IT skills, marketing experience, fundraising experience, a husband who loves to build and work with his hands, or anything else that we could use as a non-profit, even better. If you are interested in more information, or want to join the next Training and Safety Orientation Class, please contact our Training and Safety Coordinator, Linda Ward.  You can reach her by text at 713-594-7001 or email her at toberboy@gmail.com.

Bring your Whole Family out

It’s a wonderful way to spend a special birthday or celebration.  Let your kids pet and groom the horses.  This visit includes a ride being led around by one of our volunteers for the kids.  Please don’t ask us to put more than one child on a horse at a time, and please don’t ask us to put on your kids under age two.  We will provide the helmets, and please have everyone in solid shoes, preferably that cover their ankles if possible.  Mom and dad, you are welcome to walk beside your kiddo’s or just relax and let our herdmates do all the work.  If you are coming in the pen, you also need to wear closed, solid shoes or boots.   We will teach your kids how to bathe the horses after they are finished riding. A great way to cool everyone down . . . you might want to bring a towel to have them sit on because they usually want to get hosed down too. What a perfect way to get out in nature, away from electronics and get a little exercise and bonding time. Plan to spend about 1.5 – 2 hours with us. The cost for this time is $100 minimum for up to four family members, and $25 per person over that. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Take Photos with our Horses

We will get whatever horse or horses you choose all polished and help you with posing and anything else you need help with. We have brides come out with their whole camera crew to take what turns out to be their favorite photos regularly. We have marriage proposals and senior photos taken with our horses. What a great way to show off your new rodeo outfit or take a great famiy Christmas shot. Bring your ideas to us and we will consider it.
